I had a dream the other day that has stuck with me. There was this huge obstacle course. It was kind of like those old school log playgrounds. I climbed up stairs that seemed to go on forever. My legs were so tired, but I continued. When I finally made it to the top, I noticed that the only way down was a wooden plank. It sat diagonal against the ledge. I called out to the people below to see how I was supposed to get down. I am petrified of heights but I had to get down. I yelled and yelled but the people below ignored me. How the hell was I supposed to get down? So I eventually decided to hang from the plank and climb down hand over hand like on the monkey bars. When I made it to the bottom, the people below explained that I was supposed to actually walk down the plank. Of course, I was mad because I tried to ask how to get down and they were no help. But I had finished the course. I awoke with this dream in my heart, and I immediately realized there was a message. Life is like that playground. Some things are self-explanatory like the steps. It will test your endurance and perseverance just like those fifty billion stairs. Yes, you will get weary but you must continue. You may ask for assistance, but sometimes the help you need isn’t given, so you have to figure out some things by yourself. You have to do it your way. Once you overcome that obstacle, people are going to offer how you could’ve done it, even though they were nowhere to be found when you were standing at the top trying to figure out a way to get down. That’s life. Everyone wants to add their two cents after the fact. That’s why I always say you can only depend on yourself. Trust in yourself and your abilities. You will encounter many obstacles in your life and there is more than one way to overcome them. Be creative. If I wasn’t so damn scared of heights I could have simply jumped down. I didn’t have to use the plank at all. You do not have to depend on others for the answers to your problems. Majority of the time, you already know what needs to be done but you’re afraid or hesitant. So you ask around just to confirm what you already knew. Trust yourself. You will always have your best interests in mind.
