Hello Ladies and Gents

I thought it would be nice to share a fun fact about myself this week. After my last huge emotional breakdown, I was determined to get out of the house. I was not going to let my social anxiety defeat me. So I started carrying things with me like bottled water and saltine crackers, and of course, my bottle of anti-anxiety meds. The crackers were for when I felt faint. Due to my depression, I was not eating and had no appetite. So when I went outside of my home, I would be afraid that I would pass out and that would make my anxiety flare up. At first, I was carrying these items in a grocery bag and then a large purse. But as I grew the courage to go further and further away from home, I needed more things to ensure that I would be comfortable no matter the circumstances. If you ever get the chance to meet me, you will notice that I keep a large tote bag with me wherever I go. I affectionately call it my emergency “break the glass” bag. As of today, it has a sleeve of saltine crackers, bottled water, a jacket, tissues, hard candy, a plastic spoon, hair pins, a phone charger, and a bottle of anti-anxiety meds. My friends and family laugh because I carry this big bag everywhere. But as far as I’m concerned, it is my safety net.  I am sure that there will be a day when I don’t have to carry it in order to feel okay to leave the house. Until then, it will remain by my side at all times.

Yours Truly

Kaz
